And while the Le Mans-winning Audi models were thorough race cars, they were not only fast, but lightweight, reliable and fuel-efficient too.
That combination of speed, low weight, reliability and fuel efficiency is a hallmark of models with the red rhombus—the trademark of Audi Sport—such as the stunning Audi R8 Spyder, the sleek RS 5 Coupé and the latest RS 4 Avant.
Audi Sport has also overseen the evolution of the elegant, yet muscular, RS 5 Coupé.
Its new 2.9-litre TFSI bi-turbo V6 engine offers more efficiency and torque than the V8 it replaces— meaning it is 0.6 seconds faster to 100 kilometres per hour than the outgoing model at 3.9 seconds.
The RS 5 is also the first Audi Sport vehicle to feature the new RS design idiom.
