The interior is something to marvel at. Bathed in black, it is extremely upscale and ultra-stylish. Details such as RS sport seats with optional diamond stitching in Fine Nappa leather and the flat-bottomed RS multifunction sport steering wheel underscore the character of the high-performance Coupé in the interior as well. There are RS logos on the seats, steering wheel, door sill trims and the selector lever.
GOING HI-TECH: Smart is the new cool
Incredible power demands incredible control. The RS 5 puts you firmly in the driver’s seat with special RS displays in the Audi virtual cockpit that provide information on tire pressure, torque and g-forces. A shift light also prompts the driver to upshift upon reaching the rev limit.
The MMI navigation plus with MMI touch includes the hardware module Audi connect, which connects the new RS 5 Coupé to the internet and providing a Wi-Fi hotspot option for mobile devices. Control is easy and intuitive, thanks to natural language voice control, free text search and the multifunction steering wheel.
The touchpad in the centre console is used to zoom, scroll and enter characters. Further, intelligent features such as the head-up display and as many as 30 driver assistance systems, enhance safety, comfort and efficiency.
HANG TIGHT: Power equals performance
The new 2.9 TFSI V6 biturbo engine was developed by Audi from the ground up. The end-result? Sharp increases in power and efficiency as well as an incomparably full-bodied RS sound. It produces 450 hp with peak torque of 600 Nm – up 170 Nm from the previous model. It effortlessly sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds with the optional dynamic package reaching a top speed of 280 km/h.
The RS 5 hits 100 km on just 8.7 litres of fuel – an efficiency gain of 17 percent over the previous model. Another factor in the greater efficiency of the new model is its significantly lower weight. It tips the scales at 1,655 kg – 60 kg less than before.
The biturbo’s power flows through an eight-speed Tiptronic with optimized shift times to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive to guarantee dynamic handling with optimal traction and the greatest possible safety.
