“This 80-seater restaurant is decked out like its sister eatery, National Kitchen by Violet Oon at the National Gallery Singapore, with dark wood panels, hanging lamps and colourful Peranakan tiles."

“Start with a drink—Jade Bangle is like liquid pandan cake with a vodka kick! Then munch on Silver Fish Fritters: pan-fried, crispy and served with a tangy chilli sauce that has a hint of belacan."

“This is a satay joint after all, so you must have the barbecued meat. Try Pork Satay Hainan (below)—three sticks of juicy pork tenderloin with firm pork fat, a beautiful caramel glaze and chargrilled bits, and served with a spicy peanut sauce containing grated pineapple that cuts through the spice. Another to go for is Tripe Satay. The tripe is first boiled in ginger, lemongrass and galangal before being marinated in a mellow chilli, coconut and candlenut sauce. Sedap!”

“Patatas Bravas is a must-have. The potatoes are sliced till very thin, layered and deep-fried till they’re crispy on the outside but moist inside; the dish is topped with spicy salsa brava, creamy garlic aioli and chives. So decadent!"
